Meerkat arrives early at Mudchute to find a fine pitch, and Dog Walker on the phone to Ashley, who's stuck on a train. I commandeer the lamppost for the Maturite placard. Someone rather unkindly points out the sign above the placard - and says 'Oh, how ironic.' I decide to ignore such cruel barbs.


(Long Distance Badger)

Badger arrives and immediately gets to work on the balloons.

Fraggle, SloJo and Aww Spud at about 1000. No crowds yet, but hot already.

Aww Spud, SlowJo, Caz, Jon, Badger and Dr Nic wonder how to blow up 200 balloons with no helium. But helium does arrive and Josie Jump takes charge.


1015 - we listen out to Paula's progress. Fraggle's mate texts her Paula's mile splits.


(The Race)

A couple of hours into the race, and the road is wet from used water. The arm is Fraggle's, holding out a bag of jelly beans. Some runners tried to take one jelly bean out of the bag and give the rest back until we told them they could take the whole bag! Bless.
