Race day continued.... We
heard helicopters overhead and sure enough, the elite ladies were soon with us,
with Dita in the lead at this point, in her elegant 1950s BOAC air hostess long
gloves. What a pace! Then we had a breather and time to finish preparations.
Artgod from RW joined us to stand ready for passing forumites.

Multi and H took their place on
the other side of the road - only sorry that I didn't take a pic of them, but
great to meet them both after the main pack had passed. Pretty
soon, the road was filling with runners; it was great to cheer on our elite
women - Smashy and Monique.

The next few hours were a blur, as
we strained to catch our runners. Wonderful to see so many of you, and so sorry
that some of you didn't see us, or were expecting us to be a bit further along.

Looking back on our support point at 1400 - bloody
cold!

The Count looks worried...
It
was now around 1400, and Dr Nic was getting worried about where Seaweed was...it
seemed terrible to start taking our banners down with the noble 6 and 7-hour
peeps coming through. But wait! Who is that with a shopping trolley heading
towards us?
Seaweed with hugely heavy bucket and the trolley
that Waitrose 'donated'
Now the clock crept round to 1430, about the
time I'd got down for Rabbit to appear. And another eight minutes later, she was
there!

Bune greets Rabbs
I
joined Rabbs for the last eight miles - and the heavens opened again. Poor Rabbs
- the rabbit costume was saturated but her pace was amazing.
Rabbs at mile 23
There
were a few brave supporters still along the route, but the roads were opening
just ahead of us. But great to have some police peeps saying 'well done', and
coming into Birdcage there was a bit of FLM atmosphere left. Rabbs put in a
final burst of running, and I stopped just before the finish to see her heading
for the end of her epic race.
Probably the best rabbit in the world...
Rabbit
has raised nearly £10,000 for her local hospice. A staggering amount by a
fantastic person, who walked the course because she was injured and couldn't
run. Quite brilliant. Enormous thanks to
all you supporters - and apologies that I didn't get pics of many of you. richk
got some wonderful pics of supporters and runners - you'll find them here.
Thanks, richk, for being our fab official unofficial photographer. And
huge congratulations to all our runners, from the fastest to the slowest. 26.2
miles is 26.2 miles, whatever your speed. You did brilliantly.
